While the Missouri DMV permit book covers essential driving knowledge, laws and regulations, it has not been put together with the student driver’s learning experience in mind. Our drivers education program explores every vital theory topic over the course of several modules, each of which is broken down into manageable chapters and sub-sections. Crucially, all the information you will encounter while working through the course has been explained using clear language and organized to make your learning experience enjoyable. When you are interested and having fun, retaining new knowledge is easy!
Missouri residents who are over 15 years old are eligible to apply for their first learner’s permit. This will involve providing documents to verify your identity and proof that your parent or guardian has given you permission to start learning to drive. Visit the DMV website to find out exactly what you will need to do when submitting your application. First things first, it is time to start studying for the 25-question MO learner’s permit test. Passing this assessment proves that you have the foundation knowledge necessary to operate a vehicle on public roadway safely. Of course, you will still be restricted to driving with a parent, guardian or licensed instructor over 21 years old in the front passenger seat. The DMV written test will contain a randomly selected mix of road rule and road sign questions, so you will need to be ready for anything when sitting the assessment. Start working through our comprehensive driver’s education course today, to make sure you are armed and ready for the permit test.
Completion of a state-approved drivers ed course is not compulsory for learner drivers from Kansas City, Springfield, St. Louis or anywhere else in Missouri. To progress to an intermediate driver’s license, you must be at least 16 years old, hold an instruction permit for a minimum of 182 days, have no alcohol-related convictions within the past 12 months and no moving traffic violations within the past six months. Plus, you must have completed at least 40 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice, ten of which must occur after sunset. If you can check all these boxes, your final task will be passing the MO driving test with an examiner from the BMV office. Even though driver’s education is not mandatory, attempting to pass the road test without working through a reputable course would be a bad idea! To pass the road test, you must be able to execute a variety of basic driving maneuvers safely and confidently. Everything you can expect to be assessed on during the driving test is explained and illustrated in our teen drivers ed course. Your parent or guardian will be able to assist you while you practice but you must refer to the course to ensure you are following the correct procedures. Remember that even very minor errors can cost you a pass on the road test – do not take any chances!
